Sustainability is the creation of a world where each of us can have a fulfilling life and enjoy a level of well-being within the limits that nature can offer; the need for continuous improvement of our environmental performance is an integral part of fulfilling our Winery's vision, purpose and values for sustainability. The Heraklion Union, with ongoing respect for the environment, is implementing an ambitious program to eliminate environmental pollution. This is achieved with 100 kW photovoltaic power stations on the roof of the Winery to save energy, at the same time replacing all old-technology energy-intensive lamps with LED technology

In addition, it has submitted a study for the construction of a 2000 cubic meter (m³) tank for the collection and storage of rainwater thus eliminating water needs and protecting the aquifer. Another action is to create "compost", i.e. fertilizer from the by-products of winemaking (residue, pips and pomace), with the aim of distributing them free of charge to producers who collaborate with the Heraklion Union for the fertilization of their vineyards. Finally, we ensure that all packaging materials are recyclable.
